Effect of Higher Order Aberrations and Intraocular Scatter on Optical Quality Based on an Optical Eye Model

The impact of intraocular scatter and higher order aberrations (HOAs) on ocular optical quality was investigated. An eye model constructed using the measured aberrations, corneal surfaces, axial length, fraction, HOAs modulation transfer functions (MTFs) studied based newly established model. For uniform scatter, monochromatic polychromatic MTF decreased as or fractions increased independently at each spatial frequency, which implied that both were essential for visual quality. In addition, effect more significant with less HOA. combined deterioration these two factors than their summation, suggesting a potential compensatory mechanism between scatter.
